London Beckons

Named for a fictional Anglo-American man, The Beaumont is a new luxury boutique hotel from hyper-fashionable London restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King- of the iconic Le Caprice and The Ivy. Having opened last fall in London’s posh Mayfair district and located on a quiet, landscaped square within reach of the luxury shops on Bond Street, the distinctive hotel features art deco style and a unique suite named ROOM tucked within a modern sculpture. Internationally renowned hotel designers Richmond International- known for London’s five-star hotels including the Dorchester, the Berkeley, and the Mandarin Oriental- converted the former historical garage built in 1926 into a chic space evoking a style befitting of Hemingway.

The Beaumont also features a state-of-the-art gym, and a black-and-white marble Hammam and Spa- inspired by the Turkish Baths at London’s RAC club- which includes a plunge pool, two treatment rooms and a relaxation area. The 100-seat Colony Grill and American Bar may be the heart of the hotel but the real action can be found on its facade. Topped by a giant crouching figure conceived by British artist Antony Gormley, the ROOM, a geometrically stacked livable habitat, is formed through the piled composition of metallic cube upon cube, arranged to resemble a sitting man whose interior is actually a suite. The other 73 rooms – 23 of which are suites- are done up in elegant period style. www.thebeaumont.com
