Style on the Strip

The Jeremy Hotel opened this month, bringing a sophisticated and modern design to L.A.’s Sunset Strip. The hotel’s aesthetic is one of the bigger developments in West Hollywood right now and debuts a few new food and beverage options for the area. Remember that this project was formerly called The James Hotel before the building was sold off at a tidy profit. Oddly enough, according to The Real Deal, the name is a placeholder before new owner Starwood Capital can place it with 1 Hotel – their eco-conscious luxury sustainable brand, which includes properties in Miami and New York.

For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Etcho Café is a casual eatery and market with items ranging from salads and small plates to charcuterie and entrees like grilled swordfish, ribeye, and bucatini. Chris Crary was originally slated to run the restaurant inside the James Hotel before that deal fell through with the sale of the building. Now, Chef Chang is the executive chef at The Jeremy with plenty of hotel experience, including overseeing Mondrian’s Asia De Cuba Restaurant and SKYBAR. Most recently, Chang was the executive chef at The Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Joao, the lobby bar, sports a midcentury modern feel that harkens back to Old Hollywood. www.jeremyhotel.com
