At around midnight every Saturday night, a unique dance party gets underway at The Standard Hollywood where all you need to get inside is equal part glamour, flamboyance and oh yeah…a password. Giorgio’s is a weekly soiree for the seriously select fashionable crowd taking place at the Standard’s MmHmmm club, paying homage to the golden days of disco that brought people together in the 70’s to iconic spots such as Studio 54. Long time party promoter Bryan Rabin and DJ Adam 12 are behind this six month old party of the moment and they even named it after the granddaddy of dance music Giorgio Moroder, who at 73 shows up occasionally to get his Saturday Night Fever on.
Style mavens and bold face names such as Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz, Daphne Guinness, and David La Chapelle have all been spotted at Giorgio’s which has attracted a diverse mix of designers, performance artists, movie people, rock stars and bon vivants. A perfect playlist that would make Donna Summer proud- Moroder produced some of her biggest hits- coupled with an eclectic crowd and great ambiance is shaking up the Strip, making The Standard a lot more upscale and exclusive that’s more akin to the jet-set discos of Europe- even the New York Times has taken note. The tiny dance floor is always packed with chic creatives where head-to-toe silver, turbans and boys in 7-inch heels- maybe even an American Gigolo– can be found channeling their inner Diana Ross.
” I Feel Love” what a great idea!
