Where’s The Beef?

If you’re craving a ribeye and scotch under the stars, this gorgeous, ultra-luxe new steakhouse- from the team behind Coral Tree Cafe- will do perfectly. After two-years of construction, Baltaire brings a taste of Beverly Hills to Brentwood, where executive chef Travis Strickland helms the kitchen having worked at Chicago Cut Steakhouse and The Local Chicago. He’s firing up all the restaurant’s meat on an imported French Montague broiler, including A5 Japanese Wagyu, Porterhouse for two, 35-day dry-aged Cote de Boeuf and more. There’s also an enormous seafood platter with king crab, shrimp, oysters, and Maine lobster; Dover sole filleted and deboned table side, and a Greek salad also tossed table side.

The ritzy and spacious restaurant took over the old Cheesecake Factory on San Vicente Blvd. and features a 68-seat dining room, fireside lounge, and a 2,500 square-foot outdoor terrace. Baltaire finally debuted last month and has already been described by my neighbors as Brentwood’s Nobu due to the chic and refined ambiance- green and grey hues lining the wood-laden space- and elegant outdoor California vibe. From the onset, Strickland wanted the core of the restaurant to serve as a neighborhood restaurant, where residents like myself can come and share a great meal within a beautiful setting without having to drive- or uber it- far. Baltaire is definitely serving up a lot of beefy goodness…bar action included. www.baltaire.com
