Who’s your Daddy?

Shane Brown is the vintage and antiques virtuoso behind Big Daddy’s Antiques, a home, garden, and architectural mecca that has become the go-to resource for stylists, set designers, and interior designers alike. For over twenty years- after getting his start by selling garden goods- Brown has cultivated his collection of ever-changing eclectic furniture and accessories into one of Los Angeles’s hidden treasures- with an additional location in San Francisco’s Design District.

Selling inventory directly from their warehouses and showrooms, as well as top flea markets and gift shows around the country, Big Daddy’s never-been-seen and one-off pieces such as vintage Vuitton steamer trunks, mercury glass bottles and jugs, garden statuary, bird cages, mirrors, and perfectly worn club chairs, are acquired from US, European, and Asian markets. Custom tables, lighting made from old machinery, and antique reproductions are also key to Brown’s reclaimed decor.

You may have spotted some of Big Daddy’s quirky merchandise featured prominently on the hotly-followed television shows Glee and American Horror Stories- among others- and their cavernous depot, which is ensconced in LA’s Culver City- home to warehouse row- can be rented out for photo shoots, filming, social gatherings, and even weddings…which could set the tone for quite an interesting reception. Perhaps a bench made from a pummel horse could seat guests comfortably, or the bride and groom could exchange vows atop an orchard ladder…well, maybe in a future Glee episode, at least. www.bdantiques.com
