Aiming to attract the stylish and cultivated set who have a yen for fancy Chinese food, LA’s Innovative Dining Group has recently added Chi-Lin to their impressive list of restaurants- which include BOA Steakhouse, Sushi Roku and Katana, just to name a few. Located on the Sunset Strip’s west end- literally connected to their other new-ish Italian hot spot Riva Bella- this upscale addition may share a kitchen and a few bathrooms, but that’s about all…as these two spaces couldn’t be more contrasting. Chi-Lin’s dark and sexy interior was designed by Studio Collection, where their inspiration was drawn from Hong Kong’s skyline and the city’s dual atmosphere of metropolitan meets nature. The ambiance is rich and seductive, and the vibrant dining room takes you somewhere exotic- and well lit… with 300 suspended lanterns and mesmerizing optical illusions.
The menu was created by Cecile Tang of JOSS restaurant, and features sharable plates such as Chi-Lin Peking Duck with plum sauce and Cantonese-syle Maine lobster, as well as other savory items that suggest modern Hong Kong cuisine. The specialty cocktail list was created by bar manager Aaron Alvarez of Soho House- their exclusive neighbor from across the street- where distinctive Asian notes can be detected in each delicious spirit. This West Hollywood shangri-la is already attracting the in-crowd…but now, instead of catching a scene they just might catch some very good food as well. www.innovativedining.com
