The distinctive sparkle and personality of celebrity caterer, best selling author, and entertaining designer Lulu Powers has earned a long and loyal list of clients- which include Madonna, Arianna Huffington and Bill Clinton. The in demand party pro- among the Hollywood elite and New York luminaries- has seamlessly parlayed her way to becoming one of LA’s premier caterer and event planners over the past ten years since migrating to Los Angeles from the East Coast, where she had been a private chef for several prominent families in Nantucket and New York. Powers arrived in Los Angeles with the intention of becoming a comedy writer, and subsequently immersed herself in other cool things before circling back to the kitchen with a stint as personal chef to famed fashion photographer Herb Ritts- doing lunch everyday in his studio, as well as dinner parties and events. That’s when everything shifted, and in 1994 Powers founded her catering company where her accessible culinary creations and impeccable styling translates into elegant yet unpretentious gatherings.

The sought after entertaining lifestyle expert- or self-described entertainologist- infuses her tasteful and chic style with imagination and innovative ideas. Her hassle-free entertaining- which runs the full gamut – showcases her savvy flavors and tempting presentations, and her book Lulu Powers Food to Flowers is a must-have for every hostess-with-the-mostess looking to thrill their guests, Lulu-style. Married to an acclaimed fashion photographer, Powers has made Los Angeles her home- where her much buzzed about actual home reflects a style that is best described as colorful bohemian. Having been profiled in tons of magazines, and with appearances on national morning TV shows, the charismatic power that is Lulu was evident when I met her recently at an event…unfortunately it wasn’t one of her parties, which I’m thinking would have been a lot more colorful.  www.lulupowers.com
