Influenced by California sophistication and her own Nigerian heritage, Onna Ehrlich’s collection of bright and buttery-leather handbags are designed for the everyday woman…who have great style. Ehrlich launched her classic and modern accessories collection in 2004- which also includes fine jewelry produced by conflict free diamonds and rich minerals- having graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Each handbag- whether a hobo, clutch or shoulder bag- is named after women who are dear to her heart and has attracted a celebrity clientele such as Rihanna, Halle Berry, Mila Kunis, Cameron Diaz and others, as Ehrlich’s beautifully crafted handbags are well priced for the customer who seeks high-quality yet doesn’t want to drop $2,000 dollars on a bag.
Ehrlich’s line has been featured in film, TV, fashion and design magazines globally, and her goods can be found in over 350 high-end boutiques and department stores worldwide- including Neiman Marcus, Henri Bendel, Harvey Nichol’s and Kitson. Constantly finding more innovative ways to infuse her African roots to her designs, she juggles marriage, motherhood and business with equal flair. Her artistic leanings may have something to do with her father Steven Ehrlich, one of LA’s top architect’s who has built award-winning modern buildings from California to the Persian Gulf to West Africa…which is where he met Ehrlich’s Nigerian businesswoman mother in the early 1970’s while working as an architect and a teacher in Africa.
When Ehrlich was just a few months old, her dad left Nigeria and returned to Los Angeles to fulfill his dream of building what is now a world-class architecture firm. Although in touch with his daughter and helping her out financially throughout the years, they were separated for the first 19 years of her life, and it was after her mother’s death that she came to live with him in LA. Ehrlich knew since the age of 12 that her interests were fashion oriented, specifically shoes and handbags, and with her father’s encouragement she went on to form a successful and inspiring company…where their shared creativity is in the bag. www.onnaehrlich.com
