Three Amigos

Trois Mec is French for three friends, and also for delectable French cuisine which can be found at a former pizzeria in a Hollywood strip mall. Parfait- as they say in France- for the classically trained yet edgy and heavily tattooed chef Ludo Lefebvre who hails from Burgundy. Along with his partners Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo- of LA’s lauded Animal and Son of a Gun- the restaurant opened this past April where food enthusiasts have no problem paying close to a hundred dollars two weeks in advance for a set five-course meal that excludes wine. Small and intimate, diners are asked to purchase their tickets online- in lieu of reservations- for a tasting menu that has wowed the critics in LA’s booming food scene where Lefebvre, Shook and Dotolo are singled out for being the most influential restauranteurs in the city these days.

Prior to opening Trois Mec, Lefebvre was just off the heels of Ludobites’ final installment, the pop-up that started it all back in 2007 for which he garnered an intensely loyal fan base. For six years he commandeered empty spaces across LA- and even went on the road with his reality show- and for this celebrity chef who was without a restaurant, Lefebvre is just happy to come to the same kitchen everyday…where his knives can be found exactly where he left them. Trois Mec is easing back to a formality in cooking and presentation that is more Burgundy than Berkeley, and with their French-only wine list- love- and staff of strictly professional food people- sorry, no actors- this random spot in the thick of Hollywood has made it way cooler these days to score a pre-paid meal ticket than chase down a mystery location… www.troismec.com
