The five-story Chedi Andermatt Hotel is located below the Gemstock peak of the Urseren Valley, about 90 minutes from Zurich and two hours from Milan. Chedi was designed by the award-winning architect Jean-Michel Gathy with a carbon-neautral standard, making it the greenest place to ski. Its Asian influences are showcased in the natural stone and warm woods used, where the paneled rooms are softened by plush textiles like velvet, leather sofas and throw blankets. A state-of-the-art spa, pool, indoor/outdoor fireplaces, relaxation area, wine and cigar lounge, apres ski bar and two restaurants- The Restaurant, with views of the mountain featuring authentic Swiss, European and Asian cuisine, and a 40-seat Japanese restaurant- offers guests healthy living, tranquility, leisure and relaxation in the poshest way. Swiss Miss rustic this isn’t, and this uber sophisticated destination will be open year round so if you’re not quite up to hitting the slopes- that would be me – taking a glorious hike in the summertime could be a good alternative. You may even hear the sound of music.   www.thechedi-andermott.com
