In a world in which luxury is becoming ubiquitous and traveling to Asia lands you in the same shops you would find on Madison Avenue, Helen White has taken a position against mass prestige- and boredom. Originally from New York and now living in London and Capri, Italy, White opened Cabana in Capri a few months ago. Most everything in its edited collection of objects and clothes for resort life is not available anywhere else and is sourced or designed specially for the store. White knows style from her years at Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and her real motivation to open Cabana stems from her love of making things, as she collaborates with artisans in silver, wicker and glass.

From cutlery- bamboo handled knives emblazoned with the store’s name- to beach bags, everything is custom-made for those who seek the charming and the rare. At its core, Cabana partners with European artisans to modernize and update old-world hand techniques, creating exclusive post luxury products for the design and chic minded. White offers a lifestyle brand of resort-inspired global luxe whether it’s tableware, home objects, kaftans or cashmere. For the avid shopper who likes to hunt for the unique and may be frustrated that the world has become one big shopping mall, White just may have started a movement…making it all right in the world again for the roving fashionista. www.cabanagloballuxe.com
