These days, the latest and greatest place to be in Stockholm is the new Miss Clara Hotel, a 92-room, four suite first-class hotel from the Nobis Group. Located in one of the most bustling urban addresses in Sweden and the entire Nordic region, the hotel- a former school for girls which was built in 1910- takes its name from Clara Stromberg, the beloved first headmistress. Having been transformed into a sleek Scandinavian space among the tech start-ups and creative types of the evolving City district, Miss Clara is also the rebirth of one of Stockholm’s most treasured Art Nouveau buildings.
Italian-born Alessandro Catenacci is the owner of the ever-enterprising Nobis Group, the hospitality guru behind Stockholm’s best restaurants and the famous Cafe Opera nightclub. He enlisted lead architect Gert Wingardh- one of Sweden’s leading and most internationally renown- to restore Miss Clara, paying close attention to the original traits of the building which include high ceilings, expansive windows and an original spiral staircase. The stylish guest rooms feature bespoke oak storage units and limestone bathrooms with glass walls. At street level, a vibrant restaurant and bar thrive on the contemporary pulse of the district, welcoming visitors and sophisticated locals alike. Although the hotel opened in April, Miss Clara has an old soul… with a contemporary heart, of course. www.missclarahotel.com/en/
