Pitching a tent isn’t normally my thing as it usually entails camping of some sort- totally not my thing- but when it comes to Gypset, an artisanal event design company, tents have never been more stunning or magical. Originally from Europe where they’ve designed countless creative celebrations over the last eight years, Gypset recently moved to Los Angeles to begin a new adventure. Owners Frank Klapp and Christian Escario- fellow surfers and globe-trotters- entered LA’s party scene in 2012 where they design and build prototypes on the company’s ranch in Malibu. Whether the event theme is a French castle wedding or an all-white soiree in Malibu, Gypset sources one-of-a-kind items from a network of international artisans, such as rugs from Morocco, bamboo from Asia and South America, and wool and hides from Central Africa. By scouring the world for inspiration and knowledge, Klapp and Escario borrow ideas from different cultures, combining them with the finest materials and craftsmanship possible assuring their beauty and uniqueness. They demand creative control of each project- or they won’t commit to the client- as this full-service design company provides everything from security to catering.
