Baccarat, the legendary French crystal company founded by King Louis XV, has evolved from luxury product to luxury hotel as the new Baccarat Hotel & Residences is slated to open its doors in New York on March 2. Translating the brand’s unique essence and noble heritage into a living, breathing culture of craft, the 46 story upscale midtown hotel- across from the Museum of Modern Art- has 114 guest rooms including 26 suites. Additionally, there will be luxury residences with full access to the hotel’s amenities. Baccarat New York is a contemporary take on a classically elegant Parisian particulier– private mansion- blending influences past and present, creating sumptuous spaces both grand and intimate. Paris-based design duo Gilles and Boissier created nearly every piece of furniture for the hotel’s public spaces, as well as the rooms.
Crystal elements are everywhere; chandeliers will be in the bar area and at the residence, with sconces throughout. Lush decorative touches include oak parquet floors, velvet settees, pleated silk wall coverings, and marble tables. Italian-brand Mascioni linens and cashmere throws add to the luxe environment and the hotel will also have the first spa from La Mer, the NYC-based skin care company. There is also a private art collection that is uniquely suited to Baccarat, spanning from the 18th century to today which will feature photographers, painters, and more. Art connoisseur Frederic Chambre spent eighteen months gathering extraordinary pieces from auction houses across Paris to curate artwork for Baccarat. Bling it on. www.baccarathotels.com
