Los Angeles is not without its fair share of chic home decor shops, in fact they seem to be sprouting up weekly. There are a multitude of high-end home furnishing and personal accessory shops that mark this city as one of the most relevant and exciting places for interior design. One such store is Garde, which happens to be located in design central- on the Beverly corridor, home to all interior gorgeousness. This Beverly Hills boutique has everything for your home that you never knew it needed, and owner Scotti Sitz’s vision for her gift and home accessories shop is clearly modern-natural once you step inside.

Filled with items by designers both American and International, you will find a beautiful selection of hostess gifts, such as ceramic boxes, mixed with tabletop glassware, vintage Moroccan rugs, bath and apothecary, and objects that are laid out in a Belgian minimalist interior. Sitz’s curating philosophy is pretty simple and goes like this, if she wouldn’t put it in her home or wear it, then it doesn’t belong in her shop. And although she mixes reasonably priced quilts and pillows with say, a more luxurious one-of-a-kind alpaca throw, it’s really about the craftsmanship and the material and not just for the sake of being a luxury good.

garde9With a stellar background in fashion, the discerning and tasteful Sitz, who is a native Angeleno, spent years in New York most notably as the former director of retail development for Giorgio Armani, and working for Calvin Klein in the 80’s proved to be a formative time for her as Klein’s aesthetic became the foundation for her personal style. From Garde’s inception, Sitz has sought to feature designers that have little or no retail presence in LA, or even the US as a whole, offering special items that work with her look and feel. Her biggest inspiration of the moment comes from France, Belgium and The Netherlands which fits in perfectly with LA’s lifestyle of open spaces and open minds. www.gardeshop.com
