Top Chef Masters alum and Food Network superstar Curtis Stone always wanted to open a tiny jewel box of a restaurant where he could cook with the best of the season and create an incredible menu that changes regularly. Maude happens to be just that, his new 25-seat restaurant in Beverly Hills which offers a seasonal degustation menu. The cozy interior designed by Bishop Pass- of Gjelina and others- has few tables and a bar that seats 4 within short distance to the open kitchen. The market driven pre-fixe menu is designed to create an intimate chef’s table experience where a small team of chefs and dining room staff have come from restaurants including Alinea, French Laundry, el Bulli, and Joel Robuchon.

Curtis, an Australian who grew up working in Michelin-rated restaurants, named the space after his grandmother who opened his eyes to cooking and food. The TV darling, who also makes regular appearances on The Chew, has been living in LA for eight years, also home to actress wife Lindsay Price and their two year old son. A mix of comfort food that is playful yet highly elevated turns out seasonal, elegant and flavor forward dishes. Each month a single ingredient inspires a menu of nine tasting plates, and this celebrated ingredient is woven through each course. Stone sits down with all of his farmers to talk about what they can get and how to create dishes based on that availability. March is artichoke month where he’s using the coveted California spring vegetable in a Mediterranean inspired menu. So whether it’s fried, poached, steamed, skinned, this leafy green delight is the star of Stone’s tasteful show. www.mauderestaurant.com
