One of the more unique to LA happenings is now underway once again at the iconic Japanese restaurant Yamashiro, nestled atop the Hollywood Hills. Yamashiro Farmers Market runs from May 22 through September 4 and takes place Thursday nights between 5-9pm. Organized by Yamashiro Hollywood and LA City Farm, the magical night market opened in 2010 and makes for a great Thursday night happy hour. Gourmet eating and drinking under the stars is a given- as well as stocking up on those fruits and vegetables- as Yamashiro transforms its parking lot into a hidden gem equipped with food trucks, wine, and spectacular views galore.
There is different family-centric entertainment each week that includes magic- Yamashiro happens to be a neighbor of the Magic Castle- balloons, craft, and even live bands, but there’s still plenty of action going on that would make those dating apps obsolete. Vendors include Sullivan Farms, Fancifull Fine Foods and Baskets, Bolani East West Gourmet, Hillside Family Farms, Flat Iron Truck and Pressed Juicery, and why not plant it at one of the candlelit tables armed with a duck confit taco and a glass of red wine, or a Coolhaus salted caramel ice cream, or even better, one of Heirloom LA’s tasty little lasagna cupcakes. All this local food combined with sexy views will inspire you to wander about the beautiful Yamashiro gardens, and there’s even access to their Pagoda Bar- which is below the restaurant- for more apres market cocktails once everyone packs it up for the night. www.yamashirohollywood.com
