With a background in fine dining restaurant management and a name like Clover Chadwick, it seemed only natural she would start doing the flowers inside these culinary habitats. Having studied agriculture and gardening in Santa Rosa, Chadwick worked at several high-profile restaurants in Napa, including French Laundry, and started Dandelion Ranch ten years ago where her first clients were restaurants, as that was her forte. From those restaurants, Chadwick started doing parties for their clients which led to gift deliveries and weddings- and even a dinner honoring Bill Clinton.
Based in Los Angeles- where the design studio/warehouse is open by appointment- Dandelion Ranch has expanded its farm-to-table concept from flowers to the entire event, overseeing everything from food, to photography, to venues. Self taught, Chadwick’s modern and traditional floral aesthetics are dictated by Mother Nature, where her greatest pleasure is paying attention to changes in nature and often turns to wild, native ingredients to bring out the beauty in her innovative and lush designs. Although the bulk of Chadwick’s business is comprised of weddings and events, Dandelion Ranch now services 13 restaurants weekly- which includes Pizzeria Mozza, the Patina Restaurant Group and Lucques- as well as a large list of regular clients for private homes, gift deliveries and landscape design.
Chadwick makes a daily trip to downtown LA’s flower market sussing out which florals look best that day, deciding whether it’s the face of the flower, a peony perhaps, or the body, such as a tulip’s stem, that will head back to the studio with her. Buying only local and seasonal- much like a chef- Dandelion Ranch now has a retail satellite store inside Culver City’s massive home decor market, HD Buttercup, and even had a two day pop-up shop at West Elm for Mother’s Day earlier this year. Everything seems to be coming up Clovers for Ms. Chadwick… www.dandelionranch.com
