San Francisco’s Studio Choo is the work of two best friends, Alethea Harampolis and Jill Rizzo, who share a love for things natural and wild. A boutique floral design studio, Studio Choo has built a reputation on whimsical arrangements featuring unexpected ingredients. The flowers are locally grown whenever possible, and always fresh and seasonal. Harampolis and Rizzo create rustic arrangements- they call their style just picked from the garden– using many nontraditional materials in their artfully unruly fleurs that contain a lot of wild elements. The duo’s work has been featured on design and lifestyle sites like Apartment Therapy and Remodelista, and they created the wildly popular Flower Recipe Book.
Harampolis spent time before opening Studio Choo in 2009 as an estate gardener in Seattle, where she managed the wet and rolling hills of the city’s rich and famous. And Rizzo grew up in a family of florists, which would seem like a no-brainer for her to enter into the world of flowers. In 2010, Studio Choo opened a small studio/showroom and in 2013 the ladies opened their new studio and retail shop with plenty of room for workshops, an apothecary counter, a workspace for weddings and events, and a small curated retail selection. When Harampolis and Rizzo are not writing books- or supplying their buds to San Francisco’s hottest restaurants like Delfina- they also teach a variety of flower arranging classes. www.studiochoo.com
