After years of custom and limited-run pieces, sought-after interior designer Kelly Wearstler is launching the Kelly Wearstler Furniture Collection this month. Comprising 59 distinctive introductions crafted by artisans spanning the globe, the offering’s highlights include pieces that embody the California spirit- and are made locally- including the Huntley Cabinet and and the Bauble Stool. For Wearstler, the launch is the culmination of a career spent studying craftsmen at work, and educating herself on materials. She’s always been intrigued by the tension of opposites, and her line balances elements, including bronze and gunmetal patinas, juxtaposing masculine and feminine, raw and refined, edgy and organic- creating vibrancy and soul.
Wearstler- a designer who can tap a seemingly limitless well of creativity- partnered with the North Carolina-based furniture company E.J. Victor to produce the line which begins appearing in stores across the United States and abroad. Although she has developed an archive of designs for custom chairs, tables, and case goods over the years, and has revisited many of her favorite sources for inspiration, Wearstler chose to start afresh for this collection. Fresh indeed. www.kelywearstler.com
