What started as an underground pop-up dinner party in 2009 from lawyer-turned self taught chef David Barzelay, Lazy Bear is now the best permanent dinner party you’ve ever attended. The new brick and mortar space is located in San Francisco’s Mission District- home to just about all of SF’s foodie-driven restaurants- and offers modern American fine dining. It’s communal and social, but the food and drinks are very refined. The restaurant serves one menu each night- a tasting menu of 11 courses, plus some extras- in two seatings. They seat communally at long American elm slab tables, while the entire dining room is served at the same time as cooks come out and describe the dishes. www.lazybearsf.com
