Besides denim, Los Angeles fashion is known for easy silhouettes with interesting details. Cut to Desiree Klein, a German designer who moved from Berlin to Los Angeles after studying in Amsterdam, where she recently opened her first eponymous shop in LA’s Little Armenia neighborhood. DESIREEKLEIN carries her own brand and a careful selection of fellow Berlin designers. The subtle yet sophisticated line is menswear and womenswear with some pieces doubling as unisex items. Her drapy ready-to-wear styles are androgynous and ideal for those looking to add a demure palette with a touch of street wear to their ensembles. Klein creates timeless, detailed pieces that are simple to wear yet complex and smart in their structure and aesthetic.
As a boutique and concept studio, the space will be host to a variety of seasonal exhibitions of local and international designers not represented elsewhere in Los Angeles. Klein has been instrumental in various other projects prior to opening her shop, such as collaborating and styling for several musicians, and feels that both Berlin and LA are great for people that want to invent themselves. Adding, there’s a lot of space in both cities- mental and physical space- which makes for some crazy, eclectic cityscapes. That’s for sure. desireeklein.org
