A lot has changed during Covid-19, most notably the hospitality industry which has been severely decimated. Lifestyle as we once knew it came to a screeching halt. That’s when Los Angeles businesses swooped in to help. Nick Rimedio, the general manager of West Hollywood’s chic La Peer Hotel created a series of pop-ups within the hotel space to help struggling local companies. As the hotel was forced to suspend most of their operations early on in the pandemic, these pop ups were vital to keeping the hotel energized. Enter Olivetta on Holiday which took up residence over the summer at La Peer’s poolside and rooftop terrace, all with strict social distancing and mask measures in place.
Olivetta was already one of L.A.’s hottest new restaurants having just debuted in January 2020, a mere two months before Covid hit. Their stunning space on Melrose, steps away from Craig’s, is from Matt and Marissa Hermer who also own the charming Draycott in Pacific Palisades. When Covid drove the restaurant to close its doors, Rimedio brought it around the corner to his hotel where it was reimagined as Olivetta on Holiday. After settling in, it immediately became the place to be and still remains sold out nightly, regardless of the uncertainty in the restaurant industry due to the virus. Chef Michael Fiorelli prepares his savory Mediterranean menu set in a beautiful and stylish oasis- a sexy blend of Spain and Palm Beach- along with a DJ spinning music that will remind you of those parties in Mykonos when global travel was still possible. A night out at Olivetta on Holiday will reinforce your faith that we’ll get there again, someday. www.olivetta.la
