Shimmering paper whites, icy green sages, lilacs and lavish peonies are just some of the flowers that inspire floral designer Kristen Caissie. She opened her LA-based comprehensive floral and styling studio Moon Canyon in 2010, where she transforms her rustic and organic arrangements into evocative pieces of art. Out to bridge the gap between opulent and natural, Moon Canyon creates easy elegant arrangements that can be used for all kinds of events from weddings to dinner parties. Caissie also hosts flower workshops where students learn the basics about seasonal blooms. She started the company while actually living adjacent to the canyon itself in Mt. Washington, but it is here in LA- Echo Park- where the New England native has grown new roots.

Her design aesthetic is the melding of the two environments. At times, her arrangements capture both the lush New England forests and the ever-stretching LA landscapes- her favorite place to find inspiration in LA is hiking in Malibu. With 12 years of experience, Caissie has worked with flowers in every form, also extensively as a prop stylist and window display designer. Moon Canyon has worked with clients such as Martha Stewart and Bride Magazine as well as notable locals like Jenni Kayne, Clare Vivier, Nickey Kehoe Design and Commune Design. Literature and music have helped Caissie find her voice as a floral designer, as she will read a poem or hear a song and immediately congure up images of flowers. And these days, her voice is booming in LA as she’s quickly becoming the it flower girl. www.mooncanyondesign.com
