Who hasn’t sported those baby blue – Sky – nails back in the 90’s? Because every single fashionista and beauty junkie had to have those jewel tone nail polishes, a cult was born. Hard Candy founder Dineh Mohajer created a trend that still resonates today and that’s why – two decades later – she’s back with a whole new brand. Smith & Cult debuted this month in the US after being sold exclusively at Net-a-Porter and select nail salons. Inspired by diary entries of an imagined heroine, the brand’s glossy nail polishes range in shades from striking red to putty purple, from the vampy Dirty Baby black to punk-tinged Bridge & Tunnel gold glitter, which are priced at $18 per bottle.
The ultimate fix for make-up devotees, these glamorous bottles may not boast a heart shaped plastic ring this time around – a la Hard Candy – but the rainbow of on-trend shades certainly don’t disappoint, and each color includes an interesting backstory. Mohajer penned a journal titled Diary of a Beauty Addict- seemingly fit for me – which contains a collection of 30 fun stories based around each of the hues. The diaries won’t be available for sale, however you’ll have the chance to read up while getting a manicure at one of the brand’s salon distributors. www.net-a-porter.com
