When the owners of Waldhaus Sils-Maria, a fifth-generation family-run hotel in the Swiss Alps, decided to add a serious spa to their circa-1908 storybook property, they turned to the prominent Austrian natural-product maven Susanne Kaufmann, who happens to be the fifth-generation owner-proprietor of the Hotel Post Bezau, in Austria’s pristine Bregenz forest. Like her namesake spa at Post Bezau, Waldhaus Spa by Susanne Kaufmann offers customized face and body treatments featuring her Organic Treats line of botanically based beauty elixirs.
The chicly packaged products incorporate ingredients foraged from the woods surrounding Post Bezau, as well as others plucked from Kaufmann’s herb-and-flower garden. Kaufmann also helped Waldhaus take advantage of its own native resources, developing such indulgences as a restorative bath infused with oil extracted from the fragrant needles of local larch trees. Next up is a collaboration with the new Four Seasons Hotel at the Surf Club, in Surfside, Florida, where she’ll debut her Advanced Antiaging Facial. www.susannekaufmann.com
