Adult coloring books are trending, big time. I’ve recently taken to this, along with meditation- also taking L.A. by storm these days- while recuperating from an accident which has left me sore, sidelined, and very bored. Along with meditation, putting my colored pencils to work seems to calm me- what else can I obsess about while obsessing to stay within the lines? Now, Vogue magazine has gotten into the act, having published Vogue Colors A to Z: A Fashion Coloring Book earlier this month- and just in time for Mother’s Day. The first-ever title of its kind lets readers bring fashion fantasies to life through color. The gorgeous book was published by Knopf and features a Jazz Age inspired alphabet, as well as 26 iconic Vogue covers from 1912 to 1932.
A coloring book for grown-ups and kids alike, Vogue Colors was assembled by the magazine’s Culture Editor Valerie Steiker. Illustrator Cecilia Lehar has reduced the vivid works of artists including Eduardo Benito, Harriet Meserole, and Georges Lepape to elaborate outlines so that you can allow your own imagination to run wild. Readers can turn to the back for added insight into the fashion news conveyed on each individual cover. Along with luxuriously heavy stock paper and french flaps- perfect for coloring- there’s a gatefold, perforated for your convenience, printed with 21 beautiful dresses to match the dates of the cover featured.
