Westside handbag hoarders are in for a real treat, as beloved local accessories designer Clare Vivier unveiled her second Clare V. boutique two weeks ago in Santa Monica. The Vogue-featured, CFDA member line has grown from laptop cases to killer totes, sunglasses, and t-shirts. The shop on Montana Ave. showcases bags and small leather goods in shadowboxes along the walls, and a selection of curated third-party items, such as Heather Taylor Home embroidered linens, Chateau Marmot candles, Vuarnet sunglasses, and jewelry by local artisans.
The Santa Monica location embodies Vivier’s signature interior feeling: a cozy, well-lit space that was designed by her go-to designer Barbara Bestor- who designed both her flagship Silverlake and NY shops-and features a custom mural by artist Simone Shubuck. The LA-based accessory star opened her first store in SIlverlake- her neighborhood- but felt Westsiders needed something closer to their home, as the one hour-plus drive just to score a cool clutch could be more of a trek than flying cross country to her Nolita shop. Next spring, the shop will carry Vivier’s first-ever shoe line, which will consist of both heel and flat options. And don’t forget to pair one of her bags with them. www.clarev.com
