In Your Head

Neighborhood meditation studios are popping up all over major cities faster than you can say Om, and the latest is The Den Meditation, located near L.A.’s Miracle Mile. Former NBC executive Tal Rabinowitz- a veteran of the entertainment industry for close to 20 years- created Den, having learned transcendental meditation while at NBC, practicing a daily 20-minute meditation. Located on busy La Brea Ave., the 2,500 square-foot studio boasts organic surfaces and Moroccan textiles to create a warm and calming environment. Comfortable couches and bookshelves are accented with soothing shades of teal blue walls and exposed brick. You will find meditators lingering after guided classes with a cup of tea or quietly reading scripts- this is Hollywood after all.

The main meditation room is where classes take place, a smaller room is for people who want to drop in for a solo mediation, and in the last space healers in disciplines such as reiki, cranialsacral therapy and massage will offer their services. While you may be off in another world and heavily meditated, there is Wi-Fi, places to sit and work, and coffee and tea to drink when you make it back to the real world. As I can attest, if you can learn to integrate meditation into your busy life, you will be a much more balanced- and pleasant- person. Well, in theory at least. www.denmeditation.com
