Skandium, the hip temple to Scandinavian design, is a British company founded by three Scandinavians. Christopher Seidenfaden, Christina Schmidt and Magnus Englund have a collective background in fashion wholesale and retailing, lifestyle photography, and business journalism and finances. Fed up with not being able to find their beloved northern European design staples in London, they decided to bring the new innovative ideas pouring out of Scandinavia together with old, well established design icons and opened the first Skandium store in 1999.

Giving customers a wide product choice while being served by knowledgable staff in a well-presented environment, the top quality, minimal but enticing items for the home have made Skandium the city’s go-to source for modernist furniture, fabrics, lighting and home wares. There are two Skandium shops in London, a concession in Selfridges department store, and an online store. The company also does wholesale to other retailers, contract sales for commercial projects, and interior design for private clients. On any given day, Skandium tends to be crowded with well-heeled Londonders who can’t seem to get enough of the beautiful pieces designed by those style mavens from the north. And I don’t mean Abba. www.skandium.com
