In Her Shoes

For the shoe obsessed, names like Choo, Blahnik and Louboutin can trigger a woman to react in ways similar to a lion about to feast on its prey. And there isn’t anyone who can identify with this more than Sarah Jessica Parker, whose alter-ego Carrie Bradshaw spent a fortune on these sky-high beauties. So much so, she risked becoming homeless when she couldn’t afford to buy her apartment due to that very expensive habit…this Carrie can relate. Both Sarah Jessica Parker and Carrie Bradshaw brought designers- such as Blahnik- to life and gave them a massive platform to become the superstar cobblers they have now become. Sex and the City may be no longer, but Parker and her love affair with shoes still lingers as her namesake shoe collection SJP is about to launch exclusively with Nordstrom- 25 locations across the country- on February 28. A pop-up shop in NYC will be open through March 2, and the collection will also be made available in pop-up shops in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas.

Inspired by details of her childhood, design heroes and favorite spots in New York, Parker uses a strip of grosgrain running up the back seam of each shoe as her signature mark- an homage to the ribbons she wore in her hair as a child. Parker has partnered with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus to bring her ideas to life, giving women beautiful silhouettes and excellent quality for their money, as prices are in the reasonable range of $200-$500 dollars. The styles are a perfect mashup of sexy and sophisticated, where heels and flats, strappy stilettos, suede single-sole pumps in a rainbow of colors, and silhouettes in bold and shiny colors are named Brigitte- after Bardot, Jill- her best friend in LA, Maud- the famed French designer Maud Frizon, one of her favorite style icons, and of course, Carrie- unfortunately not after me. SJP’s timeless line includes over 25 Italian-crafted shoes, handbags- clutches to hobo shoulder bags- and a classic trench coat called Manhattan, all influenced by Parker’s personal style. And style she has in spades- don’t even get me started on her hair. Can you tell I’m a bit obsessed?  www.nordstrom.com
