Influencer extraordinaire Vanessa Traina is both stylist and muse to some of fashion’s most exciting designers, including Alexander Wang whom she went to school with. Raised in San Francisco as one of four daughters of author Danielle Steel, Traina moved to New York in the mid 2000’s where her pared-back modern aesthetic holds an esteemed position in the fashion field. She is now serving as executive creative director of The Line, a luxury e-tailer that launched last October featuring a selection of women’s clothing, housewares and beauty products selected to stand the test of time. Along with co-founder Morgan Wendelborn- shopbop.com’s former art and style director- Traina is guiding the buy, styling the shoots, and providing overall feedback on art direction.

The Line is backed by General Assembly co-founder Adam Pritzker and offers an alternative to typical, trend-driven retailers with a tightly edited mix of stock handpicked by Traina. Pieces are clean, simple and timeless…otherwise known as the quintessentials. Not aiming to bring the hottest look of the season, The Line would rather present items the are highly elevated yet familiar, such as Reed Krakoff; Protagonist; Rodin Olio Lusso- the cult favorite beauty oil- and Vince. Traina and Wendelborn are also taking their digital platform offline with The Apartment by The Line, an invite only minimalist space worth settling into. This clever and cozy way to sell online products in an apartment in the middle of New York is opened to anyone by appointment, where you will find beautiful art, clothes- even toothpaste- and yes, the closet is for sale too. This cool loft-like SoHo dwelling is the place to find some of their favorite things in the intimate context of a home, as well as to meet and learn more about the creators of the quintessential things.
