Gourmet Grocer

After a year of anticipation, the Manhattan outpost of Brooklyn Fare recently opened. Considered a 21st century neighborhood grocer, it was owner Moe Issa’s dream and vision to open a place where you could find the prices and processes of a modern day supermarket, with the perks and services of an old-school grocer in Brooklyn, where he was raised. The new 11,000 square foot space in NYC ‘s Hell’s Kitchen also provides gourmet groceries, delicious prepared meals and more. But it is the chef’s table that has everyone talking.

One of the most coveted seats in Brooklyn these days- just 18 at the kitchen counter- is at the Chef’s Table inside Brooklyn Fare. Chef Cesar Ramirez helms Brooklyn’s only three-starred Michelin restaurant that sits in the back of the grocery store. Long waits for a reservation- for the $225, 20-plus course tasting menu- has been de rigueur, where a unique dining experience has caught the eye of many prominent foodies. Ramirez will now be manning both locations, splitting his time between Brooklyn and Manhattan where a price fixe tasting menu will be just seven courses, but with more flexibility and bigger portions. It will also seat 45 rather than the cozy 18, but will no doubt be just as intimate. After that feast, you can hit the produce aisle and start over the next day. www.brooklynfare.com
