The latest e-commerce site to open up a brick-and-mortar shop is La Garconne, which is like a more mellow version of Net-a-Porter that has been online since 2005. Founder Kris Kim opened the NYC flagship boutique last month in TriBeCa, her neighborhood, where the all-white Japanese-inspired loft was designed by the architect Solveig Fernlund. Showcasing an extensive collection of luxury basics and investment pieces from designers such as Yohji Yamamoto, Kim feels they need to be experienced in person to appreciate the beauty and creativity that may not translate well online.

Although the site carries an extensive range of luxury, contemporary, and emerging designers, the new store doesn’t disappoint as wooden racks are filled with all the greatest hits from the site, including Grecian dresses from Zero + Maria Cornejo, and feminine skirts and dresses from Simone Rocha. There are both women’s and men’s collections with a focus on womenswear, and a section of the slick store is dedicated to objects and books. A curated selection from brands like Proenza Schoueler, A.P.C., Rochas, Brand of Outsiders, Maison Martin Margiela and more defines La Garconne’s elegantly understated aesthetic.  www.lagarconne.com
