Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s is not a personal request- although in theory it doesn’t sound like a bad idea…or even the shoe department at Barney’s for that matter- rather, it’s a documentary from Matthew Miele that is headed to the big screen next week- debuting May 3rd in New York, followed by other cities around the country. Offering the viewer a rarified chance to peek behind the doors of NYC’s most iconic shopping destination- Bergdorf Goodman- this film explores the history of these two families, the designers, the buyers, the rich and famous customers, and head-turning windows that will spark a new appreciation for this legendary store, and the magic surrounding it.

Bergdorf Goodman celebrated their 111th anniversary last fall- having played a central role in the history of New York society where Jacqueline Kennedy was outfitted for her dress for the Inaugural Ball, and Grace Kelly ordered her wedding invitations- and still remains the place where every stylish New Yorker gets their chic on– even inspiring a classic New Yorker cartoon by Victoria Roberts, captioned I want my ashes scattered over Bergdorf’s.

Fashion’s most respected designers- such as Karl Lagerfeld, Vera Wang, Oscar De La Renta, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenburg, and king of the stiletto, Christian Louboutin- are all featured in Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s, offering tasty morsels of information lending to the inner workings of this mythic institution- sure to satisfy the Bergdorf-devoted. Audrey may have had Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but my pulse always quickens the minute I approach 5th and 58th. www.bergdorfgoodman.com
