Wearable Art

Betsy Barron is a San Francisco jewelry designer who opened a gallery and atelier showcasing her work, in addition to other local and global jewelry makers whom she admires. Love & Luxe features handcrafted goods- boho chic style- located in the Mission District, otherwise known as the city’s hipster-land. Spotlighting stackable rings, vintage industrial works of art, bronze, silver, 14K rose gold, 18K gold, platinum, recycled metals, and found objects such as coral, pearl and sharks tooth, this edgy yet unique blend of timeless pieces also happens to be extremely affordable. Barron, a graduate of RISD, designs her baubles inside her studio which sits just behind the store, and doesn’t cater to of-the-moment trends…but clearly caters to gorgeous.

Cool leather belts with bronze buckles by Samantha Grisdale can be found near collections from the luxe-goth designer Heidi Nahser, the sleek sophistication of Elisa Bongfeldt, and the totally fresh Ashley Buchanan- I snagged a pair of her earrings immediately– who hand cuts one of a kind pieces and powder coats them in four colors only- cream, slate gray, light gray, and charcoal. Tessa Kemp, Maya Kini and the gifted artist Johnny Ninos- who designed the display case shown here – are also in the mix, and sculptures which were designed for the store gives Love & Luxe a more artisan feel than your typical house of trinkets. Barron is rolling out the red carpet once again to celebrate her 2nd anniversary, and on June 22nd this event will include a trunk show by Johnny Ninos, cocktails and small bites, and goodie bags which will be given to the first 25 customers purchasing $100 or more that will contain an anniversary pendant necklace in sterling silver, as well as other surprises. Since I won’t be able to make it, I am sending in the troops…well, at least my most fashionable San Francisco friends who just may score that pendant. www.loveandluxesf.com
